Q1. I installed the new quarter update but LaserTag still tells me I'm in
Demo mode, and 'Demo Sample' is printed across my tags. What should I do?
A new quarter update may be downloaded and installed as soon as you receive the
email notice that it is available. If your current quarter install expires
before you install the update, LaserTag will revert to Demo mode and print 'Demo
Sample' across your tags. If this happens to you, merely go to the Subscriber
Window under 'File' in the Main Menu and click 'OK' for the Window as displayed.
Q2. I installed the new quarter update but LaserTag still warns me that my
current install is about to expire.
First, go to the Subscriber Window under 'File' at the Main Menu. The displayed
'Version' item will tell you the quarter for the version that is running in the
form: yyyy/qq/no.(Year, quarter, and release No.) Presumably, this date will
confirm that the new update in fact has not been installed. Chances are the
update was not installed in your LaserTag folder. The default folder for LaserTag
for Windows is 'LasertagW'; for the DOS version it is simply 'Lasertag'. There
is a critical Window, early in the install procedure, that displays the path to
the folder to which the update will be installed. If your Lasertag is not installed
in the default folder just specified above, you must edit the displayed path so
that the install will go to the correct place. Sometimes people have multiple
installations of LaserTag on their computer and don't know it in which case they
may not be running the software from where they think they are. If you run LaserTag
from the icon on your desktop, right click the icon and then select 'Properties'.
The displayed window will show the path to the folder containing the LaserTag
that will be running when you click the icon. This path and the path displayed
during the install must be the same. Rerun the Install for the current update
and make sure the path displayed in the install is the same as shown for your
desktop icon.
Q3. LaserTag is printing Tray Tags in a Sack Tag format or vice versa.
What should I do?
LaserTag will automatically switch to the correct format when you switch from
printing Tray to Sack tags or vice versa. If this does not happen, go to the
Main Menu, select 'LaserTag' and then 'Select Printer and Tag Specs'. Make sure
the correct row of the Table is highlighted and click 'Select'. This should solve
the problem.
Q4. When entering tag data, LaserTag tells me that the destination Zip
Code I have entered cannot be found in the lookup Table. What should I do?
The Zip Code you have entered may not be valid for the type of mailing
involved. If the Zip Code is valid, the problem may be due to a 'timing gap'
between the USPS introduction of the Zip Code and its availability in the current
Label Tables. The problem should be corrected with the next quarter's update.
This may not be the case, however, if the lookup Table is either 'Scheme5' or
'Pmzip'. Check the data display section of the data entry form to see if either
of these Tables is involved. If either is, please email me the Zip Code, City and
State involved for the relevant Table. I will manually update the Table and return
it to you as an email attachment. The modified Table will be included in the next
quarterly update.
Q5. When I click 'Enter/Print Tags' at the Main Menu, the three tiered data
screen is messed up; the three tiers appear to be over lapping. What can I do?
On most systems, LaserTag will automatically adjust for different screen
resolutions. If the three data tiers are not distinctly displayed you may have
to change your screen resolution setting. To do this, go to your Control Panel
and select the 'Appearance' option for your monitor/screen. Change the setting
to 800 x 600 pixels. If this setting is undesirable for other software that you
run, you may have to reset the resolution each time before and after using
LaserTag.
